The university's Faculty of Business and Law in Cambridge, Chelmsford, and Peterborough is one of the largest business schools in the East of England, with nearly 100 full-time teaching staff and approximately 7,200 students from over 100 countries. The faculty has a business school in two campuses in London. The school is named after the former Chancellor of ARU Lord Ashcroft (2001-2021).
It was awarded the Entrepreneurial University of the Year in the 2014 Times Higher Education Awards. It won the Duke of York Award for University Entrepreneurship at the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards 2016.
In 2019, the School of Medicine was formally opened at its Chelmsford campus by HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. In 2021, Anglia Ruskin University received The Queen's Anniversary Prize.
In January 2020 Lord Michael Ashcroft KCMG PC stepped down after nearly 20 years as Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), with Lord Bernard Ribeiro CBE FRCS appointed as his successor.
